Our Founder & Story
Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Angela Nesbitt founded Loving Me Books with the mission to empower children through literature that promotes self-love, personal growth, and the richness of varied voices. As a Behavioral Therapist working in schools, Angela witnessed firsthand the lack of books that represented the wide range of backgrounds and experiences of children from various communities. She observed a student eagerly racing to pick up the only book they could find featuring Black characters. This realization fueled Angela’s determination to create a space where all children could see themselves and peers in the stories they read. With Loving Me Books, Angela is committed to filling the gap in children’s literature by offering books that encourage self-love, personal pride, and a sense of belonging. Our collection is carefully curated to inspire children from all walks of life, helping them embrace their unique stories and appreciate the beauty of their heritage.
