The Perre twins aka How&Nosm are European graffiti artists and professional muralists residing in New York. There has been much interest in their new work. In times when a multitude of colors, techniques and effects tend to overcompensate for style, How&Nosm take the opposite approach. With a limited color pallet in hand, the brothers create eye-catching murals laced with social commentary. Their signature 'black, white and red' intricate patterns, stark line work and stylized forms allow the clarity of the message conveyed come to the fore.
How&Nosm -- The Brazil Diaries is an intimate look at their art explorations in Brazil. They remark that living in an environment, such as the west, in which a conservative society is determined to deny artists their right of self-expression and freedom of speech, where modern architecture and infrastructure is designed to their disadvantage and strict laws and extreme punishments are set up to ruin their lives, one has no other choice than to look for solutions that will satisfy their appetite for creative freedom. They found that by traveling to countries that have a greater understanding and tolerance was one solution. These trips were liberating and soon transformed from a need, to a routine, to an addiction. As a result, they have painted in more than 60 countries thus far, with Rio de Janerio, in particular, proving to be the perfect playground for this ever active duo. It seems they had found the perfect remedy.
